Twilight The Musical set to hit New York Off Broadway theatre for charity. Twilight Parody in same vein as Rocky Horror & Harry Potter A Very Potter Musical

Love it or loathe it, the cast of Twilight: The Musical are all set to tread the boards in New York City.

A concert reading of The Twilight Saga is set to take place on an Off Broadway stage this January, all in the name of charity. It will be a one day, one off only affair; the short lifespan sure to both disappoint and please millions simultaneously.

Regardless of your thoughts on the franchise, rest assured the musical will be an unforgettable affair.

'Life Sucks When Your Boyfriend Is A Vampire'

According to sources close to the show, it is most definitely not to be taken too seriously, easing its way into the category of parody rather than serious thespian portrayal.

The spoof aspect is sure to have fans and critics alike queuing for tickets, with songs such as “Life Sucks When Your Boyfriend Is A Vampire”, and the slightly more worrying “I Imprinted on an Infant".

Think The Rocky Horror Picture Show meets obsessive teen romance.

It could not differ more greatly then from the overall vibe of the films and books. In fact, it has no announced affliation with the films at all, or the books...or the author Stephenie Meyer, and as long as it keeps it strictly parody, copyright laws won't be affected.

Only a matter of time

"Examine our culture of obsession through the story of teenage outsider Bella Swan."

It is not only our dear heroine, Bella, capable of an unquenchable thirst for the high-cheekboned undead, but we as the audience it would seem. The whole franchise has reeled in enough to keep a small country running.

Let's face it, a theatrical musical debut had to happen at some point.

Our three favourite witch and wizards have already enjoyed their time in the spotlight when 'A Very Potter Musical' hit the stage back in 2009, and with Twilight now joining the ranks of worldwide phenom it is easy to see the logic behind the medium move.

Charity

Proceeds from the show will go towards benefitting the charitable organisation, Blessings in a Backpack that helps provide school meals for young children from less affluent backgrounds.

The campaign goal is currently set at $5000.

Cast & crew

One Life to Live star Meghann Fahy has already been announced as the face of Bella Swan, with the actor set to step into Edward's shoes kept a little more tightly under wraps.

Twilight: The Musical was created by Ashley Griffin, who also had a hand in writing the music and lyrics along with Jeremy Ezell, David Mallamud, Sean Mahoney and Michael Sutherland. It will be presented by Dreamcatcher Entertainment, Ulmer Theatricals and Moxyrah Productions.

It will kick off at 8pm on 16th January 2012 at New World's Stages Off Broadway, tickets charged at $51.00 each.
